Robert Bassam Industry Related and Other News
Easterns Automotive Group Founder and CEO Robert Bassam has supported numerous nonprofits and charities in his local DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Here is a brief overview of the Easterns Group’s philanthropic acts:
Prince George’s County Salvation Army
Robert Bassam was touched by the story of Catherine, a nurse who volunteered year round at Prince George’s County Salvation Army. Catherine had suffered a stroke a decade ago, which she was still recovering from. However, her own health scare didn’t stop her from giving her undivided time and attention to those in need. The Easterns Group presented Catherine $1,000 to help pay for her expenses, as well as another $1,000 for Prince George’s County Salvation Army.
Our Neighbor’s Child
FOX 5 DC featured a story on Kelly Lavin, the founder of Our Neighbor’s Child. ONC volunteers have been working hard for 25 years now to make a difference in the lives of children from more than 700 families during the holidays. Inspired by the generosity of Kelly and the volunteers at ONC, Robert Bassam did some Christmas shopping of his own to surprise ONC with a truck full of toys to help the children the coming year.
Ruth’s Miracle Group Home Foundation
Veronica Alston’s story will move anyone, and it also touched the Easterns Group. The founder of Ruth’s Miracle Group Home Foundation was once addicted to drugs while going through rough times, but fortunately, she managed to overcome that difficult period in her life. This is why she put up Ruth’s Miracle Home in 2009, to provide a halfway house for women going through traumatic experiences with drugs, alcohol, incarceration, homelessness, and domestic violence. Having learned that Veronica needed a new van to transport the women, Robert Bassam stepped in to present Veronica and her foundation a new van.
Manassas Boy Scout Troop
The Manassas Boy Scout Troop had their camping gear and trailer stolen. Boy Scout Troop #43 had been looking forward to their overnight camping trip in West Virginia. The night before the big day, they had decided to park their trailer at the Grace Church parking lot, which is where the theft occurred. Shocked that anyone could even think of stealing from children, Robert Bassam and the Easterns Group immediately acted on the situation by presenting the boy scouts a brand new trailer and $2,500 in gift cards to help them buy new camping gear.
Northern Virginia Human Rights Lawyer
Human rights lawyer Emmanuel Ogebe opened his own home to help the victims of Boko Haram, the head of a terror group that abducts young girls in Nigeria. Ogebe has helped bring over a dozen of the girls to the country to help them heal and start a new life. Inspired by Ogebe’s noble cause, Robert Bassam donated twelve complete sets of luggage for the girls that were rescued by Ogebe.
Ryan Kerrigan’s Blitz for the Better Foundation
Robert Bassam is also a member of the Executive Board of Ryan Kerrigan’s Blitz for the Better Foundation, a foundation that aims to provide opportunities, support, and resources to children and families in need in the Greater Washington D.C. area.
